We have produced a generic design specification for public authorities setting up IT systems to manage requests for information made under FOI, the Data Protection Act and the Environmental Information Regulations.
The specification was designed to assist central government departments and agencies in their preparations for implementing the Act but it may also be useful for other public authorities. We do not accredit software designed or customised to track FOI and EIR requests against these requirements.
This specification was produced as a result of wide consultation with those responsible for the implementation of the Act.
It considers the features which IT systems must, should or could have to successfully manage, track and monitor the handling of requests.
